But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” - Joshua 24:15

Chris Tomlin - Our God is Greater

Last night as I was praying I could not come up with the right words to say and my thoughts were all jumbled together. This morning when I woke up I was reminded of this song and the words are PERFECT! Please listen and feel encouraged today!

Christmas Cards 2010

One of my favorite things about the holidays is receiving Christmas Cards in the mail, rather than all the junk mail that we usually receive on a regular basis!  My husband and I have been married 6 years and have kept all the Christmas cards  that we have received every year and it's so much fun to look and see how families have grown and changed over the years.  Each year we get family photos taken and love putting together the photo card to send to family and friends that we do not get to see very often, as well as, for family and friends that are nearby.  This year for our Christmas card we decided to go to www.shutterfly.com and we fell in love with a design and are eager to send it out!

They have lots of different options:
Christmas photo cards http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/christmas-photo-cards
These cards are printed on stationary rather than photo paper...I LOVE THAT!
another link for holiday cards http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/holiday-cards

I love Shutterfly!  Every year we create a photo calendar for my parents with pictures of our kids for them to be able to hang in there kitchen and see photos of there grandkids during the year.  This is one of there most favorite things and each year at Christmas time they anticipate receiving it...which reminds me...I need to get started on that!

If you are interested in putting together a photo calendar click on this link

Focusing on what matters...

This Sunday is the day!  The day that myself and many others have been preparing for...to participate in a 13.1 run to help raise money and awareness for cleaner water in Africa!

For so long, all throughout my training I have been so focused on myself and how I am feeling and honestly, just being down right negative towards running.  Running is hard for me, but when I first signed up for the run I was pumped, could not wait to start training, and was so excited about the true reason that I was running.

This run is not about me, it is about raising money for clean water in Africa, something that I know that I take for granted.  Now it is time to take the focus off of me and to focus on the true reason for this run!

Please be in prayer for myself and for the many other runners who will be running this Sunday

Please be in prayer for GREAT weather to run in

Please pray against any injuries, pray for safety

and Please pray for lots of people to give financially to this wonderful cause!

If you would like to come and support all that are running, let me know and I can get you more information!

Watch out world!

Aspen is now in KINDERGARTEN!

She had a great day and looked great in her uniform.
Now you might be wondering why Aspen is already in school, right?
Well she goes to a Public Charter School (where he daddy works) and it is a year round school.
It's great that it already started because I was tired of hearing her say, "Can I go to school...over and over again!"
I am so glad that she was excited and still is...and yes, they wear uniforms, I love it!

So, she had a great first day!
Went to school...then we met up with Papa and Grandma afterwards and went out to lunch at Culver's
Then my mom, Aspen, and I went and saw "RAMONA AND BEEZUS!"  If you have not seen that movie, YOU NEED TO!  (Especially mothers and daughters!)
After the movie we came home and made Aspen's favorite for dinner, Orange Chicken!

We are so proud of our little girl!

Two HUGE things this month!

I have always wanted to do find something that I love and work from home, and I finally did!
A few weeks ago I went to my sister in laws home as she invited me to a Lia Sophia show.  Immediately when I arrived I browsed at the jewelry and was IN LOVE!  I have always loved jewelry and there jewelry is BEAUTIFUL!  Here is just one of there many beautiful pieces that will be featured in there newest catalog coming out tomorrow!

I just love it!  It's stunning!
Back to the party, so when Jen (the consultant) began the party she just was immediately excited and talked about some of the best sellers, how some of the necklaces can be worn more than one way, and quality and guarantee with each Lia Sophia piece!  Then it was time to have fun, try on jewelry, and order!
I had so much fun and thought to myself, "I should have a party, but better yet, I should become a consultant!"
As soon as I got home and talked with my husband, he was BEYOND excited and totally said "Yes!"  Seeing his excitement and having his support, I immediately emailed Jen and told her that I was interested and that is where it began...and continues...
I have now ordered my starter kit and have my KICK OFF LIA SOPHIA PARTY on August 27th!  I would love it if you would come and support me and this new business venture in my life.  Come and see beautiful jewelry, enjoy some delicious appetizers, and enjoy time with the girls!
Also, if you would like to know how you could have a piece of jewelry valued at $100 but all you pay is $15, let me know!  (A little sales pitch)

Another big thing this month...

HALF MARATHON!

Yes, that's right, a half marathon!
I feel like all that I have been doing for the last few months, is RUN!  A few years ago if you would have told me that I would be running a half marathon I would have laughed in your face.  But it is amazing seeing how far I have come.  My strength and endurance has grown and I see how far I have come and I just get excited about accomplishing this goal I have set for myself.

August 22nd is the BIG day!  It is for a great cause, if you would like to check it out go to...

It's right around the corner and that will be a big week for me as I have the half marathon on a Sunday and my kick off party that following Friday!

If you think about it, please pray for myself and for all of the runners from now until the day of the half marathon, thank you!

Where have we been...and how time flies...

First of all...look at our beautiful little girl!
She turns 5 tomorrow...that's right...tomorrow on July 17th our daughter Aspen will be 5!

TIME DOES FLY!

What are the big plans?  We are going to have a special breakfast: pancakes, eggs, sausage (her favorite)!
Then at 1:00 the festivities begin!
We have lots planned and I just hope that the girls all have fun!
Aspen's favorite books are Pinkalicious and Purplelicious...so the colors of course are pink and purple!
In the book Pinkalicious it is focused on cupcakes, so we are going to have cupcakes and of course, strawberry lemonade!
There are going to be two games: who can decorate the best cupcake and who will get the closest to pinning the cherry on the cupcake, prizes will be given!
There will be story time...nail painting...gift opening...cupcake eating...etc...PICTURES TO COME!

Aspen is so excited!

As for what else we have been up to?
Well, Aspen and I got to go out to Colorado to celebrate with my sister on her birthday.  It was so much fun to go on a trip with Aspen and have some much needed girl time.
What else...
Oh yeah, still training for a half marathon that is on August 22nd...and BOY AM I NERVOUS!  I have been doing the training and sticking to it, but I am still worried.  Tomorrow's agenda is to wake up good and early and do a 7 mile run!
We had a wonderful fourth of July at the lake...and my sister came to visit last week, it was great to spend more time with her...always good when she visits!

MY NEWEST ADVENTURE to begin on August 27th 2010...
I will be selling Lia Sophia and I CAN'T WAIT!
August 27th marks my kick off day and from then on I can host parties and ladies when you host a party, you get AMAZING deals!  So, if you would like to come to my party and/or host a party please let me know!

Now that I am back in the blogging world (it has been awhile) I will post more regularly, until then I must get to bed...it's late and we have a busy day tomorrow!  Good night!

A brokendown van and a trip to the Emergency Room!

What a weekend...one that we as a family will never forget!

We woke up Saturday morning got all packed and ready to head to the farm aka "A little bit of Heaven!"

On our way to the farm...our van began driving really strange.  To be honest I kept blaming Zac for the way he was driving and turns out it was not his fault at all (yes i did apologize for getting so angry with him).  Thankfully we were able to pull over before our van died.  The van would start but it would not accelerate.  We were able to get it towed, but it was an HOUR WAIT until they would arrive.

An hour????  With two kids????  What were we going to do?
Luckily they were the two BEST kids ever!  They enjoyed playing with the toys, reading books, eating snacks, etc...  They had the best time.

The tow truck arrived at the perfect time because Zac's uncle came to pick Zac and the kiddos up just a few minutes after the tow truck did.  The kids were so excited to ride in his truck and they went off to the farm and I went to the shop with our now COMPLETELY dead van!

Little did I know that it would mean that I would be at the shop for 6 hours by myself!
What did I do during those 6 hours?  Read LOTS of gossip magazines and LOTS of reality television.

Turns out that our van needs a new fuel pump...LOTS OF MONEY to repair!  They could not get a fuel pump that day and so our van needed to sit there until today, Tuesday.
But luckily again, my sister-in-law was able to pick me up on there way to the farm.  Praise the Lord!

We made it to the farm and I was reunited with my family and the time that was spent there was amazing!  Great food, weather, and fun playing games!   We went to the flea market and antique stores, enjoyed a nice run in the countryside, etc...  It is definitely our "heaven on earth"

Monday (memorial day) came along and we were enjoying BBQ, games, pictures, jumping on the tramp, etc... when all of a sudden I heard Aspen screaming...MOMMY I'M BLEEDING, I'M BLEEDING!  She was not lying...there was blood all over her hand, the deck, etc...  Daddy immediately took her inside and washed the area and the cut on her hand was BAD!  We brought her to the hospital and she did need to get stiches, only 3, but it was very traumatic for our little girl.  She did a great job and the doctors and nurses were great.  We then headed back to the farm said our goodbyes to everyone and headed home.  We got to bed very late and slept in this morning.  Aspen is doing great today and for our van...

Our van will not be done today like we thought and the reason for that is, the guy at the shop said he can get a fuel pump for $100 cheaper, but we need to wait until tomorrow....so tomorrow is the day we will get our van back...CAN'T WAIT!

This memorial day goes down in the books as the most eventful ever.  We are just thankful that our van breaking down did not cause an accident, because it could have, and we are thankful that Aspen's cut was not any worse that it could have been.  Praise the Lord!

Race for the Cure!

What a WONDERFUL way to celebrate Mother's Day!
This was my second year running the "Race for the Cure" and this year there were over 50,000 people there!  It was an amazing morning!  Beautiful sunshine, perfect temperature, and a wonderful run!
This truly is a tradition that I am going to continue to do each Mother's Day!

"My mom" questions answered by Aspen

Today when I picked Aspen up from school she said to me, "Mom, I have some VERY SPECIAL for you, and I want to show you when we get home!"

I asked her about it and tried to guess, and she told me, "Nope, no guessing, you will see when we get home!" (followed by giggles and excitement)

We got home and into our house and Aspen IMMEDIATELY showed me what she made.  It was a Mother's Day Book!  I love it!

Especially the first page
Her teacher Mrs. Jeannie asked her questions and Aspen had to fill in the blank
Here are Aspen's answers:

My Mom
My mom is 91 YEARS OLD
My mom is the prettiest when SHE WAKES UP IN THE MORNING
My mom likes to make HAMBUGERS
My mom always says, I LOVE YOU
My mom is funny when she TICKLES ME

I just smiled!
I look pretty good for being 91 years old!

A wonderful weekend together!

My wonderful parents offered to take our two kids for the weekend!  As soon as I told Aspen and Titus they were so excited (as were Zac and I).

So, we packed there bags and they headed to Papa and Grandma's house from Saturday to Monday.

What did we do while they were gone?

Saturday morning I had a wonderful time chit chatting with some amazing women at breakfast.  Where did we go?

What a fun time!  Great food, great laughs, great time!  If you have never been to Jensen's cafe, you have got to try it...I know that I will go back!

After a wonderful morning with the girls I ventured over to my mother in laws for there neighborhood garage sale.  So many people and some very interesting people watching (does anyone else people watch?)  Did not get much from the sale, but did score Aspen a beautiful jewelry box, a beautiful sweater for my mom, and some cute little lamps for our living room.
After the garage sale I had a couple of hours until I met up with my hubby, so I went to Target (ALL BY MYSELF) and scored an AMAZING deal on a pair of jeans for my hubby!  Originally $30 but they were on the 75% off rack (and in his size) for $6.98!
*I do not have a picture of them, but they are cool, and you would never guess that I got them from Target*
FINALLY it was time to meet up with my wonderful hubby, it was date night and where did we go?

Have you ever been here?  One word...AMAZING!
The atmosphere, the service, the food, and the best part...the company!  I had such a great time sitting with my husband and just talking.  It had been awhile since we had a date night and it was definitely the BEST time ever!  I love my husband so much and just truly enjoyed being with him.
Definitely go to Enjoy!  You truly will ENJOY it (i know that sounded corny, but you truly will) and if you go, PLEASE try the Butternut Squash Ravioli, you will not be disappointed!

The rest of our weekend was spent at church, more time with his wonderful family, dinner at El Azteca, and a wonderful evening Sunday night with our small group.

A wonderful weekend spent with my wonderful husband and we thank my womderful parents for watching our wonderful children!

A subtle change...

Tonight my wonderful husband helped me out...

I colored my hair!

It's not a HUGE change, but it is a nice subtle one.  I love it.
I went to Walmart tonight and picked the Garnier Fructis Herbashine hair color
The color is Copper Mahogany Brown

Thank you honey for helping me out!  I love it!

Deceptively Delicious!

Do your kids like eating vegetables?

My kids, it really depends on the day.  But I do know that do need to get them more in there diet and so I have found the book to help me do so!

Jessica Seinfeld, married to Jerry Seinfeld, wrote this cookbook and there children were the taste testers.

Tonight, we tried a recipe.  It was not actually a recipe from her book, but we used her tips on how to puree and so tonight we pureed red peppers and put them in our spaghetti sauce and let me just say, our kids LOVED it and did not even know that we added just that little bit extra veggie in there meal.
The sauce was delicious!  We definitely are going to keep on exploring with this and hopefully find more fun ways to incoporate vegetables in our children's diets.

Head on down to your library, Barnes and Noble, order online, etc...  You have got to check it out!

Frankie the Fish

I am sure by now you have seen this commercial, "Give me back that Filet of Fish" right?

Well tonight I was singing it (I know...kind of annoying) but I kept singing it because Titus would join in...it was really cute and I hope to get a video of it sometime soon.

But instead of singing, "Give me back that filet of fish, give me that fish"
He would sing, "Da Da Da Da filet of fish, Da Da Da fish!" and then he would laugh!

It made all of us giggle and was a fun way to end the evening, as they are now off to bed!

My BIrthday...Pictures to come!

Thursday was my birthday!

The night before I had this dream that I would wake up and Zac would tell me that he took the day off, but did that happen?  No!  Bummer.
Then I had a dream that he woke up early to make me a wonderful breakfast, but did he?  No!
When I woke up the morning of my birthday I told him both of my dreams and when I mentioned the breakfast one, he then asked me, "What would you like for breakfast?" and I answered, "I'm actually not hungry!"
So it was a good thing that he did not make me anything beforehand.

As soon as I woke up that morning I had this dream that my kids were going to be on there best behavior, well, the morning did not start out so well...but all in all, they were both really good on my birthday, and Aspen was very happy that it was my birthday, and told everyone!

How the day went (I promise I will post pictures soon)
Got ready for the day and brought Aspen to preschool, but made a quick stop to Dunn Brothers to get my free Dark Chocolate Latte...DELICIOUS!
Brought Aspen to school and ran some errands before we brought Zac lunch.
Maybe you are wondering why I brought Zac lunch on my birthday, well, I had a free burger coupon for my birthday and I did not want to use it, so I brought him the Alpine Swiss Burger.  It has lots of mushrooms on it (which I dislike) but he said it was AMAZING!
After that I went and got the kids McDonalds for there lunch and came home and they both napped for 2 hours!!!!  What a great present that was.
Went to work, got lots of birthday wishes, and my kids were very good at work too!
When I got into the car after work there was a gift from my mother-in-law, and it was a very cute shirt (I love it) and an adorable card.
I then drove home and walked in and my kids greeted me with the most wonderful hugs, my husband was finishing up dinner, and our family celebration began.
Zac set the table, there was a beautiful daffodil plant, a bottle of wine, and many purses (from my mother in law...she has many and decided to give me a few that she doesn't use anymore), two cards from my kids, and candles lit.
The food was delicious and it was just beautiful!

We then ended the night by the kids going to bed early and Zac and I watched "The Proposal"

What a great day and what a great end of my day!

*Pictures to come!*

Sausage and Tomato Rigatoni...YUMMY!

and for dessert...

Banana Cream Cheesecake....again...YUMMY!

But what is in store for during the day?
Tune in tomorrow and I will fill you in!

Ouch!

I have been sick for a week now, but just a couple of days ago...THROBBING PAIN in my ear.  Ouch!

I thought to myself, an ear infection?  No, I don't have an ear infection.  I will just wait it out a few days and see how it is then.

This morning I went into the Minute Cinic and the Doctor did say that my ear was "raging" which was not a good thing.  It is a good thing though that I am now on an anitbiotic and hopefully when the 7 days are up my ear will be back to normal and I will not have to keep asking "What?" when people talk to me (especially my husband)

Slowly but surely I will be back to my 100% self and then I can get back into my normal daily routine which will include...
GOING TO THE GYM!

Devotions with my girl!

For awhile now we have had this Bible that Grandma Holm bought for Aspen.  She absolutely LOVES it!

However, it has been sitting on the shelf for quite sometime and I want to change that!

I decided to take it down from the shelf and today we are going to begin to do devotions together!  Something for the two of us girls to do during the afternoon, during her nap time.  What a fun way to spend time with Aspen and together we get to spend time with our Heavenly Father in His Word!

This is a great Devotional Bible filled with short stories and wonderful scripture!

I cannot wait until this afternoon!  Just me and my girl in the Word!

Tomorrow I am doing something that I haven't done in awhile!

I don't know about you...but do you like to weigh yourself?

I DON'T!

I haven't weighed myself since last July and ever since then I have made it a point to workout everyday and eat healthy.  I have also made it a point to not weigh myself, but to just go with how my clothes are fitting.  So far, so good..my clothes are fitting the way they should and I can definitely feel my body getting more fit and toned, which was definitely a goal that I wanted to achieve.

However, there is still work to be done and I continue to push myself everyday!

But then...
MONDAY happened!
Monday I woke up and went to the gym and much to my surprise I began to feel a sharp pain in my lower back.  I hadn't felt pain like that since I was pregnant with Titus.  I decided to take that morning off from working out, went home, and the pain got worse while I was at work.
When I got home from work it was a shooting pain...not only was it in my lower back, but now it was shooting down my leg...
My SCIATIC nerve????
Oh no!
I took the next day off from work...put heat on it, ice on it, heat on it, ice on it...stretched...etc...
Tuesday night it was feeling better, but still sore.
Went to the gym this morning...did a slow paced walk (which made me angry because I REALLY wanted to run) and after my walk, it began to hurt again.
I called the Doctor and got an appointment for tomorrow morning.

I am dreading the dr.'s office...what is he going to say, do, what will the verdict be????
I am also dreading the SCALE!  Again, I haven't weighed myself since July....

OH NO!
Tomorrow is Tripe D day for me...
THE DREADED DAY AT THE DR.'S OFFICE!

To Blog or not To Blog...that is the question...

It is 230 AM...that's right...and I am awake!

I am the LIGHTEST sleeper (well not as bad as my sister) but ever since I have had children I have become the lightest sleeper...I officially have "Mommy ears" you know, where you can hear your kids breathing...even if you are down the hall?

Do any of you other moms feel this way?

Has your sleeping pattern changed since having kids?
I know that it does at first when you have a new baby, but my kids are 2 and 4 and I still hear everything!

I wish that I could go back to sleep but that is another issue that I deal with...If I wake up, I am up for awhile.

Any tips on how to sleep better?  Looking for some!

A morning with my girl!

What better way to spend a morning than with my ADORABLE baby girl, Aspen!

I know that she is no longer a baby, but she will forever be my baby girl!

Aspen was looking forward to this morning all week (as was I)

We woke up this morning and ate a yummy breakfast...homemade biscuits, eggs, and bacon all made by my wonderful husband, Zac.

Then we got dressed and ready to go...what did we do?

We got our hair cut!  Aspen's favorite part was getting some of her hair colored pink (don't worry, it washed out tonight during bath time)  Her hair is adorable...cut just below her chin and it made her smile!  My hair...the same as always, but cleaned up.  We go to Fantastic Sam's.  I never thought I would ever enjoy going to a cheaper salon, but I have been happy there and every girl that I go to, does exactly what I like!  And it SAVES money!

Next stop????
Target...our favorite store
We needed to pick up a birthday present for Aspen's friend who is having her birthday tomorrow!  Exciting!
I can totally tell that Aspen is growing up because she no longer needs a cookie to get her through Target, but she wants to actually shop...especially in the dollar area (which I love)!

So much fun!

Our final destination...Aspen's favorite place...
MC DONALD'S!
She loved having lunch with just mommy and we enjoyed talking and people watching and then it was time for her to play.
She met some really nice girls and played with them for quite awhile...and just when it was time to go...in walked Titus and daddy!
So we stayed awhile...see, daddy and Titus were at the zoo together and so it was nice to sit with them and here about there adventure there.  Titus' first sentence to me was, "I saw monkeys!"  TOO PRECIOUS!

It was a great day and a much needed day...not just for haircuts, getting birthday gifts, and eating lunch...but it was a day for me to spend some much needed alone time with my baby girl!  She is growing up so fast and learning so much that it was nice to just take time today to be with her, listen to her, and just have some much needed girl time with her.  She already cannot wait for the next time the two of us get to hang out.  TRUST ME there will be more times like that because I did have so much fun with her.

Love you baby girl!

Where does the time go?

January 27th, 2008 the day Titus came home from the hospital.  He was born on January 24th weighing in at 8lbs 3 oz.  He was our little boy and Aspen was now a big sister!

January 24th 2009 - Wow!  This is the day our son turned 1 year!  That first year went by so fast...filled with many ups and downs, but we had so much fun!

You and your big sis!  You turn 2 in just a few days on January 24th 2010, and you now say "I'm 2" when people ask you.  You are so proud when you say that and we are so proud of you when you say it!  You are talking so much now and we just love hearing all of the words you are learning....here are some things you love to do at the age of 2:
Read books
Go to the library
Read books
Did I mention read books?
You love to color, especially with markers (so thankful for Color Wonder)
Laughing
Watching Go Fish (Amanada, Titus watches the DVD's at least once a day, we may need to get new ones from you because ours are very scratched)
Play with your sister
Build with Lego's
Point out every car, truck, bus, train that you see when we are in the car
Dancing and learning songs
and finally...
You love prayer time during each meal, especially when you get to say AMEN!  at the end!

Thank you Jesus for blessing us with Titus in our lives!

What a great Sunday!

Today was such a great day!

Even though my daughter woke me up at 6 AM this morning, it was still a great day!

Even though it was cold outside, it was still a great day!

Today is Sunday!
I love Sunday!  And this Sunday was the BEST in particular because I was reminded of something so great in church today during the Pastor's message!

Being CONTENT in a DISCONTENTED world!

To be content?  Wow!  This is something that I struggle with on a daily basis.  What a great reminder this morning that everything that I have now will not go with me when I go to Heaven...all the material posessions, nope...they stay here!
Just when I think I have all that I need...I desire more...but why?  It is just what society pushes us to do when honestly I have my family, my house, clothes, food...so why I am I not content?  Why do I always feel the need to compare myself, to desire more?

I need to be CONTENT!

That is my challenge for 2010...to be CONTENT!

Thankful for that reminder today...hope I can continue to remember that daily!

Another reason why I had so much fun today...
I hosted a baby shower along with my friend Erica!  I haven't hosted a baby shower at my house before and so it was very exciting!  I borrowed the table settings from my mother in law and the 9 of us girls sat at the table and enjoyed wonderful food and fellowship!  We had a great spread!

The menu:
Cowboy Salsa
Cheese, Meat, and Crackers
Fruit Salad
Pasta Salad
Bon Bons
Sugar Cookie Lollipops
Sparkling Cider/Water/Coffee

After wonderful food, lots of laughs, and great conversation...
It was game time...where we shared more stories, laughs, and great conversation!
Onto gifts...Nicki got some great things for her baby girl (who will be born in Feb) we are all so excited as this is her and Jon's first baby!  How exciting!  We ended with prayer and it was just a great time!

After the shower my wonderful husband (who took the kiddos to Underwater World during the baby shower) and our kids came home and we enjoyed dinner, play time, and laughs.  What a great way to end the day!
Now the kids are in bed...I am finally updating my blog and it is just a great day!
